Proddatur famous for Dasara fete: Rosaiah
Proddatur town is known for celebrating Dasara Sarannavarathri festivities with pomp and grandeur after Mysore, Governor of Tamil Nadu Konijeti Rosaiah said on Friday.
Mr. Rosaiah, who flew from Chennai with his wife Sivalakshmi, participated in the ‘Vajra Kireetotsavam’ at Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Devi temple in Proddatur and handed over a diamond-studded crown, made with funds mopped up by the temple committee, to priests Venkata Rao, Sarma and Seshaiah Sarma who placed it on the presiding deity.
He wished that the temple would develop further and people would prosper with the deity’s blessings. Temple committee president Busetty Ramamohan said Arya Vysya Sangham was formed in 1890 and was flourishing with people’s patronage.
Mr. Rosaiah and his wife were welcomed by temple priests with ‘poornakumbham’ and by the temple committee members.
